Burnt Bridge Cellars, an artisan winery located in Clark County, Washington, was founded in 2010. We specialize in Rhone and Bordeaux varietal grapes from the Columbia Valley AVA. True Garagistas, David Smith and Mark Mahan, co-founders of Burnt Bridge Cellars, began making wine together in 2008--in the garage. Our first 2010 release, including San Francisco International Wine Competition Gold Medal winner Pont Brûlé, was created with a hand-crank crusher/destemmer and small basket press in the garage. With a passion for Rhone-style and Bordeaux-style blends, David and Mark knew they needed more space to house the 7 different varietals required for the blends they wanted to make. The vibrant and growing downtown Vancouver culture enticed us to lease the perfect space on 15th and Broadway to become the second urban winery downtown, with space for indoor production, temperature controlled barrel and case goods storage, tasting room and commercial kitchen.
In March of 2015 David and Mark invited Greg Wallace to join them in the ownership of the winery. As Burnt Bridge has grown, so to have the time requirements. Bringing Greg into the winery as a new partner helps balance the many activities we have at the winery, as well as bring some additional time and attention to driving our Sales, Marketing, and overall growth.
The name Burnt Bridge Cellars comes from the name of the small creek and nature area that runs through the city of Vancouver, but we also it as a bit of second-career double entendre whimsy.
