Featured September Artist: Glenn Miller, landscape photographer
"Glenn Miller is a retired entrepreneur and award winning photographer:
I have been an avid photographer since age 14. Retirement has allowed me the time and resources to study the art of digital photography. Much has changed since the days of film. We can see the results of our efforts immediately not having to wait days or weeks for film developing. Manipulation of the nuances of brightness and color are far easier and more precise than anything that was possible using dark room techniques (although I still process my pictures in a “dark room”)
Even given the ease which we are able to process today's photographs, the real proof is printing large format photographs. Most of the prints presented here are printed on a large format Epson printer using premium luster photographic paper. Each photograph has been printed numerous times in a smaller version to adjust for the various tonal differences found when translating from a 27” computer monitor display to any print media. Each type of printer and print media will have subtle differences that must be accounted for to get satisfactory results.
The gold standard of photographic printing today is done using either acrylic or metal prints, both are expensive and have their own merits and drawbacks. I have chosen traditional print for the bulk of my work simply because it is primarily for my own learning and enjoyment.
I hope to inspire your wanderlust for the scenic beauty of the Pacific Northwest with my photography. All my photographs can be custom printed and framed to your specifications up to 40” X 60”." For more information please see his website: https://glennmiller.smugmug.com
