Ted Magarian, fine art photography

“Seeing art and beauty in every day common things enriches your life.

I come from a fine art background and have always used photography, like any other art medium, to find or make interesting shapes, colors or light. Photographs are where I find them. It can be a walk down the street, in the park or around the house. Potential photos are all around us. Sometimes it’s an object, or interesting shapes, or light and how they work upon each other. We just have to find them, and the fun is in the hunt!

The making of a print is the final process in creating a finished work. The physical print is the end product of the original version. If it lives only on a screen it’s only a facsimile of a photo.

The photographs in this collection include a variety of subject matter and styles, created over a long period of time. They include both Black and White, and Color.

All proceeds from the sale of my photography exhibit will be donated to Community Home Health & Hospice in Vancouver, Washington, to help those in need in our community. You can learn more about this new center at: www.chhh.org .”

Ted was born in Chicago and grew up in Long Island, New York, Arcadia, California and the Puget Sound. He studied Fine Art at Western Washington State in Bellingham and graduated from Evergreen State College in Olympia in 1973. Ted moved to the Portland Metro area in 1975, and he feels most at home in the Pacific Northwest.

Ted enjoys art, music, literature, fine wine, good food, dogs, and traveling. Some of his favorite places he’s traveled to are the Southwestern states, and the City of Santa Fe, New Mexico. Ted’s hobbies include photography, playing ethnic flutes and guitar.

Siempre La Guitarra Concert Series - Alfredo Muro

Today we are open from 1pm to 7:30pm.

This evening we’ll close early at 7:30pm to set up for 40 attendees to enjoy a special in-house after-hours concert by Siempra La Guitarra, at 8pm.

Join us for the third concert of the 2019 Siempre La Guitarra Concert Series with special musical guest, international concert guitarist, Alfredo Muro. This is a rare opportunity to see phenomenally talented Latin guitar virtuoso, Alfredo Muro, in one night in an intimate venue, up close and personal with some of the best wine in Vancouver. The concert starts at 8pm and seats are limited!

To purchase tickets go to our Facebook page here: Siempre La Guitarra Tickets

Our host, David Tutmark, of Oregon Guitar Studio and guitar instructor at Clackamas Community College will introduce Alfredo. We thank him for arranging and officiating the concert.

Alfredo Muro shares the joy of his musical talent while performing, composing and teaching throughout International Guitar Festivals, concerts, lectures or coaching/teaching at his Guitar Studio. These three passions provide the basis for the phenomenal success of this musician and his ongoing and constant evolution. Artist Website: www.alfredomuro.com

“Alfredo Muro is an international concert guitarist, interpreter, composer, arranger, and improviser. He has been described as a Latin guitar virtuoso, but his musical styles and tastes are far more versatile, ranging from standing classical repertoire to jazz. His forte is South American music in its many guises: folk, jazz, Brazilian, classical.

Whatever the style, it’s the emotional content of his music that carries the day.”

Ben's Wine School 2019- Class 1

Ben restarts Wine School this evening with his first class of 2019, and we’re excited! Class starts around 7pm and we have room for 16 participants. The class fee is $25 per person. Please email Ben to sign up: ben@burntbridgecellars.com. Seating is limited, so you’ll want to make your reservation in advance. (The class topic to be announced soon.)

This is a series of monthly, casual, and fun wine tasting classes taught by our winemaker Ben Stuart. Ben will dive into the rhyme and reason behind making different wines at Burnt Bridge Cellars. He’ll talk about things like balance, fact vs. fiction in wine descriptors, what environmental factors play a role in how a wine tastes, what he's looking to avoid, some of the fancy science names of certain flavors, and how to swirl, sniff and spit like a pro. Class is all about comparing wines, either as a blend or a single varietal from various regions of the world in a group blind tasting. Class members vote for and rank the wines individually and as a whole class, based only on their sensory perception of each wine, with the label and price only revealed by Ben at the end. You may be surprised by what you’ll learn.
